Creating a Nation of Readers receives a generous book donation
Creating a Nation of Readers was launched in April of 2007 through the collaboration of Weigl Publishers Inc. of New York and Rock For Reading and Book Worm Angels of Chicago. The program seeks to combat rising youth illiteracy rates in the United States through the recruitment of book donations from publishers and distribution of donated books to literacy organizations. Publishers who have books to donate should contact Linda Weigl at linda@weigl.com. Organizations requiring books may make application at the Rock For Reading website, www.rockforreading.org. Creating a Nation of Readers is committed to getting books to those children who most need them and to inspiring one child at a time, one book at a time to discover the wonderful world of reading.
Weigl partners with Rock For Reading and Bank of America
In partnership with Rock For Reading and Bank of America, Weigl's Barack Obama book will be reaching thousands of students in the Chicago area. In support of the Creating a Nation of Readers program and its mission to put books into the hands of children, these three groups have targeted students attending schools in the neediest areas of the city. Big Shoulders Fund will distribute the books to these students over the next few weeks.
